Gulf Coast Community Foundation Hosts Board Institute Reunion

62 nonprofit board members attended inaugural GCBI Reunion

Sixty-two nonprofit board members from across the region gathered at the Venice Yacht Club last Friday for the first-ever Gulf Coast Board Institute (GCBI) reunion. GCBI is a part of Gulf Coast’s Invest in Incredible initiative (I3) to provide high-level board governance training to new and veteran nonprofit board members in the Gulf Coast region.

The inaugural reunion for program graduates began with an interactive leadership presentation from I3 consultant Liz Wooten-Reschke, based upon Brené Brown’s best-selling book Dare to Lead. The program concluded with a surprise gift of the book for all attendees as a part of Gulf Coast’s 25th anniversary celebration. Wooten-Reschke is president of Connectivity Community Consulting and a BoardSource-certified governance trainer who specializes in board governance, nonprofit leadership, and meaningful board service.

"The reunion is an opportunity for Gulf Coast Board Institute graduates to continue to develop the knowledge and skills that make them strong leaders in the board room and throughout our community.  Says Betsy Steiner, Invest in Incredible Director. “It also gives participants the opportunity to connect with their board institute peers and with graduates from other classes. These connections are important to their board and community service.”

Gulf Coast Board Institute is offered several times each year by Gulf Coast Community Foundation.  So far, over 200 community members have participated in the eight sessions of GCBI that have been held over the last three years.

Applications for the winter 2020 session of Gulf Coast Board Institute will be available later this month here.
